Mini Maktab
A fun, engaging introduction to Qur'an and Islamic learning, designed especially for Kindergarten and 1st Grade students.
Overview
Mini Maktab is Zubaida Foundation's introductory Maktab program specifically designed for children in Kindergarten and 1st Grade. It provides our youngest students with a positive first experience of structured Islamic learning while keeping lessons short, interactive, and appropriate for their age.
Students attend Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. During this one-hour program, children work on their Qāʿidah and Qur'an-reading foundations while learning essential Islamic Studies through stories, activities, games, repetition, hands-on learning, and guided classroom participation.
Built for Younger Learners
Mini Maktab is not simply the regular two-hour Maktab condensed into one hour. The pace, activities, and teaching style are intentionally adapted for younger children and their stage of development.
What Will Students Learn?
Our goal at this age is to build strong foundations while helping children associate learning their Deen with curiosity, confidence, and enjoyment.
Qāʿidah & Qur'an Foundations
Letter recognition, pronunciation, joining letters, beginning reading skills, and steady progress through the Qāʿidah according to each child's level.
Islamic Studies
Age-appropriate introductions to Allah, the Prophet ﷺ, Ṣalāh, good character, Islamic manners, important stories, and the basic practices of being a Muslim.
Learning Through Play
Lessons are reinforced through games, activities, challenges, storytelling, movement, repetition, and other interactive methods appropriate for KG and 1st Grade students.
- Develop comfort and confidence reading from the Qāʿidah

- Build familiarity with Ṣalāh, masjid manners, and worship

- Prepare students for a smooth transition into the full Afterschool Maktab program
Weekly Schedule

One focused hour. Rather than extending the school day unnecessarily for younger students, Mini Maktab provides a focused 60-minute learning period designed around their age, attention span, and learning needs.
Tuition
We have intentionally kept Mini Maktab affordable for families looking to begin their child's Islamic education at an early age.
Academic Calendar
One Maktab. One Calendar.
Mini Maktab follows the same academic calendar as the regular Zubaida Foundation Afterschool Maktab.
Classes will begin and end alongside the regular Maktab program, and scheduled breaks, holidays, and other calendar closures will generally follow the main Maktab calendar.
Give Them a Strong Beginning
Mini Maktab gives our youngest students a place to begin learning Qur'an, discovering their Deen, building good habits, and developing a love for Islamic learning from the very start.
