Afterschool Maktab

Overview
The ZF AfterSchool Maktab Program is a structured and comprehensive Islamic education initiative designed to nurture spiritual, moral, and intellectual growth in students aged 6 to 14. Held Tuesday through Thursday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the program offers a carefully developed curriculum that integrates Qur’anic studies, Islamic sciences, character development, and practical life application.
Core Objectives
- Develop a deep connection with Allah ﷻ, the Qur’an, and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
- Provide a strong foundation in essential Islamic knowledge, based on the An-Nasihah Curriculum and enhanced with relevant contemporary applications.
- Cultivate moral character (akhlaq), proper manners (adab), and confidence in Islamic identity.
Curriculum Components
- Qur’an Reading and Memorization: Emphasis on Tajwid, fluency, accuracy, and Surah memorization appropriate to student levels.
- Islamic Studies: Fiqh (prayer, purification, fasting), Aqidah (beliefs), Akhlaq (character), Seerah (Prophetic biography), and Adaab (manners).
- Duʿās and Practical Application: Students memorize daily supplications and are taught how to apply Islamic teachings in their daily lives.
- Islamic History: Exposure to the lives of Prophets, Sahabah, and key events in Islamic civilization.
Age and Class Structure
- Designed for students ages 6 to 14.
- Students are placed in levels C1 through C8 based on age and ability, allowing for differentiated instruction that meets their needs.
Educational Approach
- Holistic and Balanced: The program combines traditional Islamic knowledge with age-appropriate delivery and meaningful engagement.
- Student-Centered: Activities, discussions, and assessments are tailored to various learning styles and cognitive levels.
- Accountability and Communication: Regular assessments and scheduled conferences help track student progress and maintain transparent communication with families.

Note: The schedule is designed to be flexible. Daily timings may be slightly adjusted within the 2-hour block to accommodate Ṣalāh times throughout the year.

Tuition

Policies
To provide a strong Islamic upbringing, maintain the quality of our Maktab education, and ensure the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and masjid staff, the following policies are in effect. We kindly request all parents to review these guidelines with their children and adhere to them consistently.
Attendance Policy
- Class time is from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Students must be dropped off and picked up on time. Any student arriving more than 10 minutes late will be marked as late
- The masjid is not responsible for students after 7:35 PM.
- Repeated lateness will impact the student’s attendance grade on their report card.
- If a student will be absent for more than one day, notify the admin in advance. An absence of 8 days may result in removal from the Maktab. Re-admission requires a $150 fee and is subject to a waiting list.
- Students with perfect attendance will be recognized during the end-of-year awards ceremony, in shāʾ Allāh.

For Boys: A Blue thobe with white hat(topi)
For Girls: Blue abayah with white hijab/scarf
Electronics Policy
All electronics, including phones and smart watches, are strictly prohibited during class times. For any urgent matters, please contact the teacher directly.
Grading Policy
The student report card will be based on the following rubric:
- Studies: 70%
- Attendance: 10%
- Behavior: 10%
- Uniform: 10%
