Imam Numaan Cheema was born and raised in Lawrenceville, NJ. At a young age, he ventured to Buffalo, New York and Chatham, Ontario to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of Islam. Upon graduation, he took up a position as an imam and teacher in Boston. After a tenure as the Imam in Boston, Imam Numaan took up a teaching and research position at Darul Uloom Canada in Chatham, Ontario.
Imam Numaan Cheema is an Islamic Studies graduate from Darul Uloom, Canada. He has Ijāzah, or license to teach, in the six major books of Ahadīth (Bukhāri, Muslim, Tirmidhī, Nasā’ī, Ibn Mājah, Abū Dāwūd). He has a passion for studying Aqeedah and Usūl. Additionally, Imam Numaan is currently pursuing Iftā Specialization Program under the auspices of Mufti Abdul Rahman ibn Yusuf Mangera which requires an in-depth study of important texts on usul al-fiqh (legal theory), qawa’id al-fiqh (legal maxims), usul al-ifta’ (principles of fatwa giving) and juz’iat and furu’ al-fiqh (derivative rulings). Alongside being an Imam, he is an active Computer Scientist and is actively involved in research. He holds a Bachelors of Science from The College of New Jersey and is currently pursuing his Masters of Science on a part-time basis from New York University in Computer Science with a focus on Cybersecurity and Applied Cryptography. |
