What is Ibn Abbas Hifdh Academy?

Ibn Abbas Hifdh Academy is dedicated to the memorization (Hifdh) of the Qur’an, aiming to nurture a generation of Huffaz who embody the teachings of Islam. Our academy provides a structured and supportive environment for students to achieve excellence in Qur’anic memorization, understanding, and application in their daily lives along with grounding themselves in sound islamic principles.

Who is Ibn Abbas and why is the academy named after him?

Hifdh Academy is named after Abdullah ibn Abbas, a distinguished companion of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ known for his profound knowledge and commitment to the Quran. Renowned as "The Scholar of the Ummah," his legacy of Quranic scholarship and dedication to Islamic education serves as an inspiration for our students, aiming to cultivate a deep understanding and memorization of the Quran in their hearts and minds.

Head Instructor: Hafidh Mubeen Khan

Hafidh Mubeen Khan, born and raised in the Greater Philadelphia area, began his journey of Quran memorization at the age of 10 when he moved to Buffalo, New York, to study at Darul Uloom Al Madania. Three years later, he returned to Pennsylvania, having completed his hifdh, and started teaching Quran at local masaajid.

In 2015, Hafidh Mubeen co-founded a part-time hifdh program at IQRA Institute in Oaks, PA. Over the next five years, the program flourished, graduating six huffadh. This success led to the expansion of IQRA Institute into a full-time hifdh program for both boys and girls, meeting the community’s growing need for Quranic education.

For the past decade, Hafidh Mubeen has been a leading instructor at IQRA Hifdh School in Collegeville, PA, where his exceptional teaching methods have guided numerous students to become Huffadh. Many of his students now serve as Taraweeh Imams and hifdh teachers, reflecting his profound impact on their spiritual and educational journeys.

Hafidh Mubeen has also been leading taraweeh prayers in the Greater Philadelphia area for the last 12+ years. He holds ijaaza in Hafs for both recitation and teaching, further solidifying his expertise. His dedication ensures that students not only achieve their memorization goals but also develop a deep understanding and connection to the Qur'an, preparing them for lifelong dedication and service to their communities.s.

Admission requirements

• ​Boys 8+ (No Age Limit)
• ​Girls 8-12 
• Ability to read the Qur’an with fluency
• Ability to apply the rules of Tajweed 
• Successful passing of qualification examination by Hifdh Instructor after application​

Class Schedule

**Attendance is mandatory for all days

• Sundays: 9am - 1pm
• Tuesdays: 5:30pm - 8:30pm
• Thursdays: 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Insha'Allah more days may be added if needed

Program Fees

• Tuition: $150/month*
• 4-Week Prep Program is Free

Program Objectives

• Memorize the entire Holy Qur’an, inshaAllah.
• Learn various techniques on how to memorize the Qur’aan and the best one that works for you.
• Be directed by your instructor on how you can improve your overall recitation whilst memorizing.
• Learn more about the spiritual benefits of memorizing the Qur’aan and how you can benefit others.
• Revise the rules of Tajweed alongside your memorization.
• The target to complete memorization is 5 years, although students may take longer or shorter

Program Details

• ​Student will recite previous lesson with teacher.
• Student will recite new portion with teacher.
• Student will review what was memorized previously with teacher.
• Outside classroom hours will depend on student.
